Opinions Are Like...
Reps. Opinions are like reps (I think the saying goes).
Quality matters more than quantity!
Everyone Thinks They're an Expert
But YOU know your business best.
I’ve been getting a lot of advice lately. (Some solicited, some not - you know how that goes.)
When I mentioned that I was embarking on a rebrand which included some new coaching programs and group offerings, the feedback started really comin' in hot.
One piece of advice I kept hearing?
👉 “You should only run coaching groups with business owners in the same industry or stage of business.”
I totally get why this was suggested to me - on paper, it makes sense and is logical. But, what I have (and what those well-meaning advice givers do not have) is experience.
In my group coaching programs, I’ve seen brand-new entrepreneurs bring an energy and optimism that sparks creativity for seasoned business owners. And I’ve seen those seasoned entrepreneurs share perspective and “lessons learned the hard way” that help the newer folks avoid common pitfalls.
💪 Coach's Cue: 3 Ways to Find Credible Advice
-
Check the track record. Would you take fitness tips from someone who’s never been to the gym? Same with business advice - look for relevant experience, not just theory.
-
Look for authenticity, not just opinions. Is this person invested in your success, or just projecting their own fears?
-
Ask yourself: Will this actually help move my business forward or will it distract me?
Running a Business is Like An Emotional HIIT Class
When you're tired and just trying to get through it, it's nearly impossible to see your business and form breakdowns objectively.
In this week's episode of The Fitness of Business, Courtney Greth, LMT and Owner of Recenter Therapeuatic Massage (and graduate from my Fall 2024 IGNITE Cohort) opens up about her willingness to seek out the right kind of feedback from the right kind of sources. And, it's starts with knowing what advice you need!
"I'm a team of one. I'm a solopreneur. So while family and friends...give great advice...I have learned to not go to them first. I go to myself first, get quiet, take a minute, brain dump, like pen and paper style...and stream of consciousness...and then I kind of pick themes out from this giant word salad that I just created and see what questions I have...What advice am I actually needing?" - Courtney Greth
Listen to/watch this week's episode for tips on how to get clear on what you need, where to find it + a very simple grounding technique to get your mind and intentions clear.
Moment of Vulnerability...
