Don’t Skip the Hard Reps 👉 Saying No

Be open...but have boundaries.

Be flexible...but stay true to your core values.

Mixed messages?!

Allow me to clarify.

Say "No" to Make Room for "Yes."

The 6AM Text.
Back when I owned a gym, one longtime member sent me a Saturday morning text at 6AM asking about class times (which were clearly posted online).

☝️ My first thought: “Just check the website!”
😡 My second thought: full panic spiral which went something like this:“If I don’t reply, she’ll feel ignored → quit → tell everyone we don’t care → gym fails…”

Here’s the truth: I wasn’t mad at her, I was mad at myself. I had set the precedent by giving out my personal number and always replying. Soon, multiple members were doing the same. It was unsustainable.

💪 Coach's Cue: What I wish I’d known (and now tell my clients):

  • Define your ideal boundaries before you’re overwhelmed.

  • Communicate them clearly + compassionately.

  • Offer alternatives (office hours, updated systems, even a chatbot).

  • Audit your setup — is your website current, mobile-friendly, and easy to navigate?

And remember: you’re not being difficult, you’re running a business.

🤔 Think about it - You wouldn't call a chef at home, after a restraurant's hours, and ask if they'd cook you a meal and deliver it to your home...would you?
